The Philippine Toy Library (PTL) launches its second toy center in Layag-Layag, Zamboanga City together with Tzu Chi Foundation and Yellow Boat Foundation.
When PTL launched on social media a few months back, there was an immediate number of requests from all over the country. Layag-Layag, Zamboanga City was one of the first who responded.
Sitio Layag-Layag is a fishing community fifteen minutes off the city where people live on stilt houses. Children used to swim to go to school. Last July 27, 2012, PTL President Edsel Ramirez flew to Zamboanga to launch PTL Layag-Layag with the generous help of Tzu Chi Foundation and Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation.
“We believe in synergy, PTL will surely be of help in the development of the children of Layag-Layag,” Tzu Chi Zamboanga Coordinator and Yellow Boat of Hope Co-Founder and President Anton Mari Lim shared. “Every child deserves the chance to play and have fun.”

The Tzu Chi Zamboanga Day Care Center allocated space for the PTL corner with solar liter as source of illumination. It was on stilts over water where children need to ride boats for their movements inside the community.
“PTL brought balikbayan boxes full of toys and children’s books,” Ramirez narrated. “We asked donations through social media. Friends chipped in and people we haven’t met sent their old toys as well.”
The Philippine Toy Library is currently calling for donations to build in Payatas in Quezon City, Culion in Palawan, and Mariki in Zamboanga. Clear out closets and PTL is open to accepting old toys, children’s books, art materials, shelves, tables and chairs, rubber matting, paint, etc. Drop off points are in Quezon City, Baguio, Bacolod and Zamboanga.

Description We are a group of friends who came together and took on the challenge of providing the experience of play to our Filipino children, especially who live in cramped and congested areas. We would like to transform idle spaces in baranggays/schools/parishes into fun and educational playrooms to keep off our kids from the streets. We invite you to this worthwhile and easy endeavor to build the Philip pine Toy Library in your area to give our children space where they can be creative and imaginative.
